Dedication

Once upon a time not so long ago, there lived a real boy who read "Winnie the Pooh" in Latin to his teacher. He grew to be a handsome young man --a musician, a poet, a scholar, and no one who met him could mistake the wisdom of his heart or the light in his eyes.

So fond was his teacher's memory of him as a little boy that he became the model for another small child who read "Winnie the Pooh" in Latin and lived adventures in a world of tunnels beneath city streets.

In 1997, after this film was written, the handsome young man, just 16 years of age, was shot and killed in a hold-up.

There are no words to express the anquish or fill the void left behind for the young man's family and friends who cherish who he was and mourn what he will never be. But, as often happens in mythic realms and fairy tales, there is a small miracle of comfort.

Another child, Cubby, grows in the world of the writer's imagination, wise of heart and bright of mind. For the real boy and all who loved him, for all children endangered, we dedicate our efforts here and wish them safely home.
