Cantankerous and sly Phil Hogan plots to secure his hold on the rundown pig farm he has rented for twenty years from the family of Jim Tyrone.

He plans to use his big, brazen daughter Josie, whose tongue is even sharper than her father's, to bait the man of the world Tyrone into a seduction, which, Hogan schemes, would lead to a forced marriage and/or title to the farm.

But under Jim Tyrone's slick exterior is a broken and guilt-ridden soul whose real love for Josie offers the only island of comfort in his despair-filled world.

Josie too, wears a mask, the reputation she has cultivated as loose and wild screens the pure love she has long held for Jim. Through a long night under the moon's cold light Josie and Jim reveal their need for each other but their love and this night have come too late for both.
