In a significant victory for
Internet freedom advocates,
AT&T officials agreed to adhere to strict Network Neutrality conditions to secure FCC approval of their $85 billion merger with BellSouth. This is wonderful news, since network neutrality conditions will help to ensure that the big internet players don't take undue advantage of their power and size to slow or block
information in other parts of the internet. At this time, AT&T
is stating that they will not prioritize nor degrade network traffic based on "source, ownership, or destination." While this agreement sets a crucial precedent for Internet
freedom, we're not out of the woods just yet. It's now up to
Congress to make Net Neutrality permanent under the law. You can help by taking a few moments to Send a letter to Congress and tell them to make
Net Neutrality the law!
